ABOUT US

We are a specialist exercise rehabilitation charity supporting people with heart or lung conditions.

 

Since its foundation in 1989, Milton Keynes Community Cardio-pulmonary Group (MKCCG) has given and continues to provide support for people who have had a cardiac or pulmonary diagnosis.


We are affiliated to the British Heart Foundation and to Arrhythmia Alliance - The Heart Rhythm Charity.


CAN WE HELP?

If you have experienced a heart attack, had stents fitted, living with angina, heart failure, COPD, emphysema or any other heart or lung conditions We may be able to help.


Our sessions can help you increase your activity levels, improve your fitness and build your confidence to exercise safely.



HOW TO GET STARTED

You can complete our Self-Referral Form or ask a health professional to refer you to our service.


You will then be invited to either:

  • Attend our free 6-week course, (funded by NHS Integrated Care Board) after which you can become a member if you wish.
  • Join a trial period of 3 weeks (1 session per week) for £10* after which you can become a member if you wish.
  • Go straight to membership*

*Suitability for these options will be assessed before you start.



WE ARE SO MUCH MORE THAN A GYM

  • Our sessions are overseen by a health professional, supervised by our volunteers and led by a specialist exercise instructor
  • You will receive an annual health assessment and blood pressure monitoring twice a year (or more often if needed)
  • We have our own accessible building and it’s only used by us.
  • You will work at a pace that is safe for you, either in our studio or using gym equipment.
  • We have sessions at a variety of times, day and evening, at Hinton Hall in Bletchley.
  • Our sessions end with a relaxation period.
  • You can stay after your session for a cup or tea or coffee and a chance to chat with other members.
  • Our free 6-week courses include an education topic and often have guest speakers for our members.
  • Our trained volunteers are the proud recipients of The King's Award For Voluntary Service.
  • We hold regular social events throughout the year.
  • Our sessions are friendly, supportive and great fun!
