EXERCISE SESSIONS AND WHAT TO EXPECT

A six-week course, funded by the local NHS Integrated Care Board, is offered to people who have been referred by a medical professional.

If you have self-referred, you will be offered 3 weeks (1 session per week) for £10.00

After this time, if you wish to become a member of MKCCG you can transfer to one of the other weekly sessions.

Members of the Group attend one of the sessions of exercise and relaxation held each week in our building on Whaddon Way in Bletchley. Sessions start with warm-up exercises, then move into the main period of exercise (equipment, circuits or aerobics), followed by muscle strengthening exercises and active cool-down. Then there's a relaxation period which gives you important practice at unwinding! Finally, there's a well-earned cup of tea or coffee and a chance to chat with others who've been through a similar experience to you.

The 2-hour sessions are currently on Monday to Thursday during the day and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Membership costs £322 - £350 per year or £80.50 - £87.50 per quarter.

We are affiliated to the British Heart Foundation and to Arrhythmia Alliance - The Heart Rhythm Charity.

FACILITIES AND SOCIAL

We have a room containing a range of rowing machines, exercise bikes, treadmills, cross trainers and so on. We also offer aerobics on a sprung-wooden exercise floor in our main Hall. Most sessions are run by a health professional and by a fully-qualified exercise instructor, plus a trained team of volunteer helpers (many of whom have had heart problems themselves).

In 2024, MKCCG volunteers were awarded the King's Award for Voluntary Service.

It's not all work! In addition to the weekly sessions there's a regular programme of social events throughout the year which include coffee mornings, quiz nights, outings and a New Year Dance.
